When you create graphics output with one of the SAS Statistical Graphics (SG) procedures (such as SGPLOT) or ODS Graphics with SAS 9.4, extra temporary data sets with names such as _doctmp000000000000000000000 are written to the SAS Work library. Typically, one temporary data set is written to the Work library for each graph that the code creates.
If you are using a SAS/STAT® procedure and you are interested in creating only non-graph table output, you can circumvent this problem by adding the following ODS statement to your code before the procedure step:
ods graphics off;
However, if you do want to create graphics output with a SAS/STAT procedure or if you are using one of the SG procedures such as SGPLOT or SGPANEL, there is currently no way to prevent SAS from writing these temporary data sets to the Work library.
